Hi Pat, The late Garry Wilson offered a likely prospect for Honora Coughlan when he theorised about my ancestor, William Clark and James Peevor Clark being her brothers a couple of years gone on the list. He mentioned an Honora Cochrean who married a John Williams. This marriage took place 8 Feb. 1830 at Launceston. - http://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD36-1-1p257j2k Though it doesn't show age, this girl was "born in the colony" and couldn't write. She next appears in a marriage to Howard/Howell Baxter at Launceston, 27 Oct. 1845 - http://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD37-1-4p367j2k She is described as a widow and her age 32. So she was born circa 1813. In an insolvency case against her husband, Howell Baxter in 1846 its stated that Norah Williams resided with Baxter for 10-12 years before receiving information from a friend that he (Williams) had died. So the first marriage couldn't have lasted very long before she left Williams - http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/36244635?searchTerm="howell baxter"&searchLimits=l-advstate=Tasmania|||sortby=dateAsc Honora Baxter is recorded as dying in Launceston 15 Feb,.1872 aged 59, which again reflects a birth date of 1813 - http://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD35-1-41p4j2k Could the surname Cochrean have been misheard or mistranslated from Cocklin/Coughlan/Coghlan?? Certainly a variety of spellings for Coughlin in the records to justify such. There doesn't seem to be a baptism for a Honora/h/Nora Cochrane in the early records of Knopwood for 1813 or either side of that date. Further research is probably needed to see if she was in fact, Honora Coughlan but it gives a start...
