Hi Mabel, if you use the link to go to the search page, look to the right of the search area and you will see two circles - you need to click on All. You actually need to do this for each new Search, otherwise it is just searching through the current 'results' You can then narrow it down to years, or convicts or births or whatever by using Include or exclude in each category. Or you can just use a first & second name. It then allows you to go through the ones that are left which go directly to the page you want. As Douglas said - you no longer have to go through by trial & error. In the case of say a Mabel Smith - it will also throw up births under her married name.
