Andrew Thomas STUART is indeed listed in the Peerage of Ireland etc. Peter - the STEWARD listed on the Brig "Lord Hobart" certainly fits Andrew Thomas, his wife and son as the baptism I have is dated 25 June 1841. The next confirmed date I have at the present is the birth of their daughter, Sophia, 26 Sept 1843. So it appears that George Joseph that I seek may have been born in Tasmania. Meryl - the obituary you referred to is one I hadn't actually seen although I have read others. It is surprising how each 'news item' can give a bit more information, so in future I shall read/compare all items with each other to see what else turns up. Thanks, Rose
