    3. Hi List, Has anyone researched the wives and children of convicts to be transported to Australia under the "Convict Family Reunion Scheme"? From online research there are records in Tasmania for NSW. I am seeking some guidance on these records and how to access them. Many thanks Karen Kestigian

    3. The topic is covered in the Companion to Tasmanian History online - https://www.utas.edu.au/library/companion_to_tasmanian_history/C/Convict%20Family%20Reunion%20Scheme.htm It's written by Jenny Parrott who refers the reader to further reading in her thesis : 'For the moral good?: the government scheme to unite convicts with their families 1818–1843', M Humanities thesis, UT, 1994. I have also used a publication which is an Index to this topic. "Convict applications to bring out families to Van Diemen's Land (also NSW, VIC & WA) : index, 1827-1873" It's available in Family History Libraries and larger State Libraries in Tasmania, NSW and maybe some other states. While searching for this, I found on the State Library of NSW website under Research, a Guide - CONVICTS: LIFE IN THE COLONY which includes this topic. It shows what sort of information is available in this Index. https://guides.sl.nsw.gov.au/c.php?g=671842&p=4775876 Other topics are worth checking out if you're researching convicts at all. Karen may have found these references, but hopefully this could help other researchers.....Lorraine. -----Original Message----- From: K Market Associates Sent: Monday, May 20, 2019 9:49 AM To: aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-Tas] Convict Families Hi List, Has anyone researched the wives and children of convicts to be transported to Australia under the "Convict Family Reunion Scheme"?
