"Norfolk Island and Its Second Settlement 1825 - 1855" Edited by Raymond Nobbs, an academic. This is the best book on the Second Convict Settlement. 1825 - 55. Well researched, not a novel. Unfortunately it is no longer in print and I could only find it for $77US on line, second hand. The National Library has a couple of copies so I was able to read it there. Your local library may be able to direct you to a copy. I was on NI last week and found nothing as good as this although was recommended to "Convict Kingston" by Nan Smith and "Elizabeth Robertson's Diary Norfolk Island 1845" ed M Hoare.
