Hi List, I cannot find confirmation of registered births for: Clarence Fredrick Clark 6/8/1917 Laura Esther Clark 21/6/1919 These two and other siblings were born George Town and I know of no reason for non registration of births. I’ve checked My Heritage, Ancestry and Find my Past but no luck. Tried the Tasmanian Names Index but no luck. Surname could be Clarke but nothing on that either. These are very close family members and I have all other relevant information but no birth registration!! Any theories welcome. Thanks Meryl. I suspected as much but one of the sites indicate they have births up to 1922 - not true obviously. Could I trouble you please for Robert William Clark 22/9/1921 (my dad). Hi Sharon, The reference to the later date is because the Tasmanian Pioneer Index, which goes to 1899, also does include 374 baptisms, where there were no birth registrations, from 1900 to 1932. Nothing on there for Robert William Clark as his birth must have been registered. I think I'm correct in saying that prior to the availability of the post 1899 indexes on the Tas. Federation Index CD, they were available on microfiche in our main libraries. The microfiche actually had more details included - eg ages for each party on the marriages, and on the deaths. It was most disappointing that these details were not included in the Federation CD. I presume the microfiche records are still available in the libraries?
