Thanks Peter. Cheers Lyn
G'day All, When you have time will you look at this marriage for me please. I am having trouble working out the 2nd and 3rd witness names. Cheers Lyn VIC married by Rev. Herbert Robert FINNIS Witnesses John JACKSON Alice MANCER ? Joseph ??? Digger - Tasmanian Pioneer Index 1803-1899 Surname: THOMPSON Given Names: SARAH ELLEN Event: Marriage Father/Spouse Surname: DORAN Mother/Spouse Given Names: JAMES AUGUSTUS Day: 11 Month: 1 Year: 1891 Age: Sex: F Spouse Age: Adult Spouse Sex: M Registration Place: HOBART Registration Number: 217/1891 Reference: RGD 37
Hi Lyn, https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD37-1-50p132j2k Looks like Alice MANCER to me. The Joseph one is a bit weird as the word after Joseph looks just like Mark which is also written under Sarah's name across to the left. Then it has . and what might be by. Mark.by So is it just Joseph and his Mark or is the surname something like Markby. Horrible writing to try and work out. 8-( Regards, Meryl -----Original Message----- From: Lyn Carruthers <chedoona@beagle.com.au> Sent: Tuesday, 7 May 2019 11:18 PM To: aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-Tas] Marriage witnesses G'day All, When you have time will you look at this marriage for me please. I agree it looks like Alice Mancer, too. Beneath marriage solemnised by James Doran and Sarah Ellen Thompson on LHS, is looks like "her mark". This is similar to the comments up further on the certificate with X her mark. The name for witness Joseph could be Mark or Markby..like Meryl I'm not sure Chris -----Original Message----- From: Meryl Yost [mailto:merylp@tasfamily.net.au] Sent: Wednesday, 8 May 2019 9:08 AM To: aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-Tas] Re: Marriage witnesses Hi Lyn, https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD37-1-50p132j2k Looks like Alice MANCER to me.
