Hello Listers, For those people who may have Koglin in their lineage and are on Ancestry or perhaps My Heritage please be aware there are trees that state Johann Michael KOGLIN and Sophie Henriette Caroline HINZ are the parents of Christlieb Koglin (stated to have been born in 1836) and Gottlieb "August" Koglin (born in 1825). I believe the "August" was added later for reasons below. Further research with this couple and these two gentlemen have revealed Christlieb KOGLIN was in fact born in 1811 and died in Prussia in 1886 (the trees have him passing in the USA) and Gottlieb "August" KOGLIN's death information has been attributed to our August KOGLIN who died at St Marys in 1914. It appears the research carried out for Johann Michael KOGLIN and his wife Sophie on Ancestry and My Heritage was not performed thoroughly. This couple actually married in 1825 in Persanzig in Prussia. Children attributed to this couple are also at odds. So sadly for whatever reason someone has found names and not looked for the correct information, just put it into their tree and others have followed suit. I just wanted to alert you to this fact so as you do not fall into the same trap. The upside of this is a potential DNA match between our August KOGLIN and Christlieb KOGLIN and/or his wife Auguste TONN. It is very early days so there is no way of knowing how this will all pan out. Cheers Judi
