The recent Digger discussion piqued my curiosity. How do I get my hands on the Digger CD's? The Tasmania & Victoria Pioneer Indices would be the most interesting to me. As best I can tell, there was an update of Digger for Win 8 several years ago, but I can find no online source for the Digger CD's themselves. Is there any keyword (author, publisher) that would help to zero in on them in Ebay & Amazon? Mike
Hi Mike, The Digger index CDs, including the Tasmanian Pioneer Index and Tasmanian Federation Index, used to be distributed by MacBeths in Hampton in Melbourne, not sure if they still do so. http://www.macbeth.com.au/products/digger/ Gould Genealogy in South Australia also used to sell them. https://www.gould.com.au/ The Digger software used has not been updated for many years, and will not run under 64 Bit versions of Windows (never did even under Windows XP 64 Bit). I think some of the CDs were withdrawn from sale when privacy legislation was tightened as some contained details more recent than the legislation allowed. You may find second hand CDs by searching on the title, eg Tasmanian Pioneer Index CD etc. Regards Ray On 27/04/2019 10:19 am, Mike Vollmer wrote: > The recent Digger discussion piqued my curiosity. The Tasmanian Archives had some of the the TPI and TFI CD-ROMs for sale a few years back. You had to ask at the History Room desk in Hobart. I bought the TFI for a friend at $200 then... May need to drop them a line to see if they still have them available. Then you still have the issues that have been discussed as to how to run them. I've used Oracle VM on other dated software to effect... Cheers, Peter > >
Again i appreciate all your input re virtual drives. I feel more confident now than when i first posted but the technical components are for a trusted technician to work out. Peter I will see if TAHO has a spare TFI, but i won't hold my breath. I imagine these would be "scarce as hens teeth ". I believe that some of them have a Product Key and on-selling might be out of the question...
