I hadn't seen images of the main house of Roseneath till this article My 3x great grandfather William Wathen was one of the convicts assigned to James Austin when William arrived in Hobart Town in 1818. He remained in James Austin's employ until the latter's death on the 2nd of January 1832. Following Austin's death, his housekeeper Hannah Garrett was given Life Rent of all his properties and estate, then following her death, the entire estate went to his two nephews Solomon and Josiah Austin. Even though Wm Wathen gained his Conditional Pardon in June 1832, he remained in the employ of the nephews, on their property "Tor Hill" on the Ouse River south of Bothwell, until at least 1837.
