    3. Hi Listers I have a letter addressed by a gentleman to his wife, addressed as coming from 'Casa Nova' in Hobart Town, in 1832. I'm unsure if it is a sly reference to 'Casanova' or if it was an actual residence. Has anyone heard of 'Casa Nova' as a house in Hobart at the time? Thanks Malcolm

    3. Hi Malcolm A quick glance at Trove indicates that there was a house called Casa Nova on New Town Road in 1839. The Colonial Times of Tuesday 19 February 1839, page 3, carries an advertisement requiring a reply to Mrs Garrett, Casa Nova, New Town Road. -----Original Message----- From: Malcolm Ward Sent: 18 March, 2019 10:46 AM To: aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-Tas] Casa Nova, Hobart Hi Listers I have a letter addressed by a gentleman to his wife, addressed as coming from 'Casa Nova' in Hobart Town, in 1832. 3. Hi Listers, I think "casa nova" means "new house" in Italian. Perhaps the original builders were European? Marg.
