Hello all I wonder if there are any listers who connect with James Harper, a convict, born 1799 in Aberdeen Scotland, came to Tasmania on the ship Sophia in 1837 and died in Hobart in 1876. Would be very glad to hear about John's life and family if he had one. Thanks Judith Harper Nelson, New Zealand
Hi Judith, Are you sure it was the 'Sophia' that your James Harper arrived on? I can't find any convict by that name on the ship voyage. There was a James Harper tried at Aberdeen arriving on the 'Sarah' in 1837. Was this him?
