The second link worked ok :-) Thanks Maureen for putting us onto this. Cheers Lyn VIC
What a wonderful fine, thanks Meryl and Maureen you have done it again. I uses these records in the Hobart Library for years on microfilm, film after film, when I was researching my Private Edward Murphy of the 99th Reg. of Foot. I did most of his story for my book from these War Office pay sheet records. It took me ages to work it out, but it was well worth it. I had all the books from the A.J.C.P. and used them all the time. When the big decision came to choose which books I had to leave behind when I moved to Cairns and these were one of them. To see them come up on line yesterday was wonderful (timely too as I had just return home from a stint in hospital) I don't seem to be able to bring up the W.O. 12 for the 99th, when I put his name in the search it came up that their was an unexpected error had occurred, what am I doing wrong or am I expecting too much?? Even so its good just to look at it up there in front of me. I just need a little bit of help. Hi all, RE AJCP records. I'd like to inform everyone that I came across it while searching the National Libraries website - so I have no idea what or when reels will be digitized. To all you asking me questions, sorry I have no idea. Cheers Maureen Martin Ferris Curator, Genealogist & Historian Little Swanport, Tasmania ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maureen and Meryl, Just finding it and letting everyone know was great, we can't expect you to do it for us. I will keep looking through it, its going to be wonderful when its all done, in the meantime I will use what I can. As always thanks for all your work. All major libraries should still hold the microfilms. Regards Irene Subject: [AUS-Tas] Re: AJCP Records Hi all, RE AJCP records. Further to Maureen's post, the National Library is planning to add to its web pages with one detailing what has been digitised, progressively. Its not there yet. They have digitised two series of use to family history researchers - PCOM2, prison records (see here: https://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/560797 ) and HO26, Criminal Registers https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-728075871/findingaid?digitised=y . Click on where you see images. I personally haven't used these, sorry, co cannot give a 'how to' lesson. Here is the page for Admiralty records - by no images, you see that they haven't been digitised yet. https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-732027610/findingaid#nla-obj-732028241 And the all-important Colonial office (with despatches to and from the colonies - can't wait for this to go up: https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-728202615/findingaid Regards Malcolm -----Original Message----- From: Maureen Martin Ferris <maureen.ferris@outlook.com.au> Sent: Monday, 18 March 2019 5:42 PM To: aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-Tas] Re: AJCP Records Hi all, RE AJCP records.
