Good morning all I have been meaning to send the following for ages, so sorting through some family history items I came across it again. My Mum Ruby Edna (Eddie) PRICE played cricket with East Launceston Ladies and prior to her marriage to my Dad Elvin Joseph (Skeet) WICKS in 1939, the members of the team presented her with saucepans. With it was a typed poem under which the team signed their names. Thought it might be of interest to descendents of these ladies to know that they were playing cricket at that time. TO EDDIE The happy day will shortly come, When you and “Skeet will live as one, We hope that one lives very well, Though at this time we cannot tell. In giving you each coloured pot, We hope they’ll say “Forget-us-not”' And may the sight of cream and green, Remind you of our kind esteem. We know the pots will be of use, As you think out the things to eat. We wish your cooking every luck, For t’would be wrong to poison “Skeet”. May best of luck and happiness, Be with you right through your life.
