    3. Hi Rod, Appears the details of Thaddeo Leary being in the 4th Regiment and dying on Norfolk Island are a "miss mash" of details. There's a card in the General Index at TAHO that says - Sgt Leary, died 1833 of the 4th Regiment. Connolly burial register. The extract is from J H Cullen's transcript of Father Connolly's records. This Sgt Leary was buried in the old Roman Catholic Cemetery in Hobart. Contingents of the 4th did go to Norfolk Island...so I'm wondering if there has been a confusion of facts jumbled together. The other odd thing is that in the payroll and muster lists of the 4th or "Kings Own" (WO12 Reel 3697 piece 2214 1832-33 & 3698 piece 2215 1833 to end there is no Leary recorded anywhere. Not in the NCO's or the privates?? So I don't know where Sgt Leary of the 4th Regiment came from unless it was a translation error of Cullen and it was some other regimental number ?? TAHO doesn't have the original records for early Roman Catholic registers only the transcript so there's no way to verify the burial details.
