Hello Sandra The family story was that William Snr lived in a timber house nearby and built Forest Hall from that other property. I was told it was the timber house and property on the southern side of the river, Forest Hall being on the northern side. In the 1842 census, the family were in the Perth District, and were still there in December 1844, when William registered the birth of his daughter Mary. By January 1 1848, they had moved into the Westbury district. William owned a property at Whitefoord Hills, with a timber dwelling, and the family were living there. When daughter Ann married in December 1855, she married from "a house at Rubicon", thus they were established in the right area by that time. Did he build Forest Hall ? If it can be shown that the building is older than 1848, then perhaps not.
