    3. Thanks so much everybody for your responses. I am just working through them. I can see that I made a mistake with May Ellen Louisa Lyons. It is, as many of you said, a different name. I had thought it was a Lyons. Annie Rebecca is the same person who married John Newcombe and died at Tamworth in NSW. Her marriage registration shows that she was born in Hobart, Tasmania and a spinster aged 29. Her father was Tom Lyons (deceased) and her mother was Anna Rebecca Langdon (deceased). As we all know people who provide this information often make mistakes. I went through the baptisms for this period in the Catholic Church for an Annie Rebecca but couldn't turn her up. Annie had two children before she married John Newcombe - they were Daisy and Albert. I can't find anything about them either. I am not connected to this family but somebody has asked me to look for her as she has not been able to find anything for a number of years. On ancestry.com a family member from NZ says that her father always said they were related to Joe Lyons, ex PM. Thanks again everybody. 3. Hi Betty, I'm not sure whether anyone has found Annie Rebecca's birth yet, if so, I apologise for this duplication. Here she is, anyway: Name: Lyons, Rebecca Annie May Record Type: Births Father: Lyons, Name Not Recorded Mother: Godfrey, Sarah Ann Date of birth: 24 Jul 1873 Registered: Hobart Registration year: 1873 Document ID: NAME_INDEXES:975600 Resource: RGD33/1/10/ no 3480 I searched for "Annie Rebecca"only in the Linc name indexes. Best wishes, Carol Brill. PS There are several Lynskey deaths around the time your Annie was sent to the orphanage. Best wishes, Carol Brill. -----Original Message----- From: Betty Pilgrim [mailto:bettypilgrim@bigpond.com] Sent: Tuesday, 6 January 2015 4:09 PM To: 'Helen Brown'; 'Peter Oakley'; AUS-TASMANIA@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-Tas] Annie Rebecca Lyons Thanks so much everybody for your responses. 3. Thanks Carol. I've come across a Miss Annie Lyons in Trove who was an actress and vocalist in Tasmania. She was married to Harry P Lyons who was a theatrical manager. Apart from theatre he managed circuses. Annie also performed in the circus. I know this is letting my imagination run riot but I can't help wondering if Annie, who was admitted to the orphanage as a neglected child, might have been their daughter. With them being at the theatre and travelling a lot it could easily be proven that a child of this union was neglected. Any thoughts? I can't find a record of Annie's maiden name but she obviously used the name 'Miss Annie Lyons' after she was married to Harry P Lyons. Harry P Lyons' obit says he was born in Hobart but can't find that either. -----Original Message----- From: Carol Brill [mailto:seebee.cazza@bigpond.com] Sent: Tuesday, 6 January 2015 6:05 PM To: 'Betty Pilgrim'; 'Helen Brown'; 'Peter Oakley'; AUS-TASMANIA@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [AUS-Tas] Annie Rebecca Lyons Sorry Betty - Rebecca Annie May Lyons died 26th August 1878 - she was listed as a printer's child in both certificates. Sorry - I really thought I'd located your Annie Rebecca!
