Hello Chris, Do you have Mr.Tabart's Service Record? This is easily procurable from the National Archives using a name search. I would firstly look him up on the WW2 Australian Nominal Roll. That way you should be able to confirm his Service Number, Arm of Service, DOB, Unit etc. You not say whether he was Army, Navy or Airforce. I am really only familiar with Army records, and the service number you have given doesn't seem right to me, although I claim no expertise. Once you have the service record, you should be able to fairly readily determine his war tome experiences. If he was a POW, then there are some Red Cross records which may be of help. There are also War Diaries of the various units available from the Australian War Memorial. Hope this all makes sense and helps. Barry R.
