Thanks Patricia - Looks like yet another bigamous marriage in my family - though she must have been a brave woman to travel alone with her children to the Vic. goldfields if she left him alive and kicking in VDL - who knows what happened? He most probably died in Victoria. Could some kind soul with a Vic. CD locate his death there for me please? Matilda stated on her 1859 marriage certificate that she has two living children and three who had died - if Patrick died in Vic. I might be able to find their names. I know one of her living children - her daughter Margaret Green, daughter of the convict Robert Green, married as McGinnis the same time at the same place as he mother in 1859. Margaret married James Vincent, son of James and Sarah Vincent. I believe his parents were James Tomer Vincent and Sarah Beazely of Launceston.
