HI Peter, Ken & Harriet, Thankyou all for your great replies, all with some new info. My interest in these families dates from stories told by my Great Uncle George Marshall Gardiner who married Bertha Johanna Bollenhagen . i happen to have inherited a waist length, gathered cotton. petticoat with the name Bertha Bollenhagen written in Indian Ink in the waistband. She has always been a bit of a mystery so decided to find out more about her. The petticoat is now over 100 years old, & to be able to have a background story to add to it, brings it to life, & adds considerable material to my family tree. So again, many thanks for your contributions Marie. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On 4/02/2015 2:39 PM, Harriet Taylor wrote: > According to the New Zealand Internal Affairs Department B M D website (free > to view) Bertha and August had a daughter, Bertha Johanna born 1864 and > another child N/R (Name not recorded) 1867.
