    2. Hi to those of you with ancestors or family who attended the All 'souls, Wesleyan Church and more recnetly Anglcian church at Patersonia.  My son tells me it has been sold for $80,000 dollars.  We have a McArthur headstone in that Church and there are other graves in good repair, I am wondering what is to become of them.  My son didnt say what the Church will be used for or who bought it.  I didnt think it would sell as it is in the middle of no where really.  No shops close by scattered Farms and Orchards so folk living in the vicinity. Went there in October. Can only hope the graveyard stays. Our ancestor John McArthur was awarded a family bible by the Teachers and Scholars of the Sunday School, on the 1sxt July 1888.  He was the President of the Sunday school when it was still Wesleyan. regards Edie McArthur

    1. [AUS-Tas] TFI lookup BETTY QUINN
    2. Robert Bellenger
    3. Thanks Meryl for checking TFI last week. Thanks Peter for checking the baptisms. I certainly think it was kept a secret for some time or only some family members were aware. Clara's DN in 1966 doesn't list her as a daughter and grandchildren are not listed. She isn't mentioned in Evelyn's DN in 1966 either. Betty is still at Quarantine Rd in 1958 but neither Clara or Betty are there in 1963. Some living relatives had told me there was a rumour but weren't a 100% sure (probably didn't want to say) but a couple of others knew who was the mother. I've had another case where they were told on their wedding day that who she thought was her sister was her mother. Now that would be shock! Cheers Robert

    3. There's a transcript of the marriage of Joseph Henry Soul to Rosetta Jane Quodrill on FamilySearch but it doesn't link to an image to view - Rosetta Jane Quodrill Australia Marriages, 1810-1980 Name: Joseph Henry Soul Birth Date: 1895 Birthplace: Birkenhead, England Age: 32 Spouse's Name: Rosetta Jane Quodrill Spouse's Birth Date: 1898 Spouse's Birthplace: Hobart Spouse's Age: 29 Event Date: 05 Sep 1927 Event Place: Hobart, Tasmania, Australia Father's Name: Joseph Henry Soul Mother's Name: Eleanor Briscow Soul Spouse's Father's Name: John Bartholomew Williams Spouse's Mother's Name: Jane Blain Williams Marital Status: Single Spouse's Marital Status: Widowed The event place is only Hobart mores the pity. Went through RGD1 marriage counterfoils but can't find a match to 1927 event in any of the online certificates - https://librariestas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/all/search/results?qu=ARCHIVE_915%3D%22RGD1%22 The J Lynch mentioned in Cornelian Bay records as husband was John Edward Lynch. He is buried with his first wife Altha at Cornelian Bay - headstone photo here (Roman Catholic, section N) - http://www.gravesoftas.com.au/Cornelian%20Bay%20Live/Roman%20Catholic/N/Lynch%20John%20Edward%20N411.jpg In death notice for Rosetta Jane Lynch, 9 Oct 1968 it says - LYNCH- On October 8 1968 at Royal Hobart Hospital, Rosetta Jane, dearly beloved wife of John Edward Lynch of 54 Wentworth Street, South Hobart. Loving mother of Maxwell, loving mother-in-law of Jean, and step-mother of Jack in her 71st year. John (Jack) is mentioned on John Edwards and Altha's tombstone at Cornelian Bay. Electoral Rolls have Altha and John Edward living at 16 Lewis Street Newtown in 1954 (year of Altha's death) Next appearance for John Edward is in 1963 wheres he's with Rosetta Jane at 54 Wentworth Street, Hobart South. 2. Peter Oakley
    3. Hi Robert, I had a look at some of the baptism registers for Swansea, St Helens and Fingal (C of E and Methodist) but didn't find anything for Betty Quin/n being baptised. Looked between 1915 and 1920. Of note is that in the 1949 Electoral Roll for Evandale Betty Quin is living with Reuben and Clara Ann Quin (grandparents??) at Quarantine Road. In the obituary of Leslie Hilton Quinn in 1953, son of Reuben and Clara, Betty is referred to as 'sister of...' and further in the death notice Leslie is refered to being brother of Evelyn and Betty? Obituary - https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/225921546?searchTerm=%22leslie%20h%20quinn%22&searchLimits=exactPhrase=leslie+h+quinn|||anyWords|||notWords|||requestHandler|||dateFrom|||dateTo|||l-advstate=Tasmania|||sortby Death notice - https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/225926475?searchTerm=%22reuben%20quinn%22&searchLimits=l-advstate=Tasmania|||l-category=Family+Notices I suspect it was a case that Evelyn's daughter, Betty was bought up in the family as a sister to the rest rather than a niece. Perhaps Betty didn't even know Evelyn was her mother and it was kept a family secret? A thought anyway... Cheers, Peter > > >
