Goodness, I am not being a great help to Elaine. Cheers Lyn
Hi Elaine, It doesn't seem that it is. The marriage, which you can look up on the Tasmanian Names Index, Libraries Tasmania, is in 1896 for William BURKE and Julia FAHEY. On the birth entries (TFI & TPI) the father is named William Henry BURKE and the mother Julia Anastasia FAHEY. Hi Rose, Nothing on the Tasmanian Pioneer Index for his birth. The first birth registration on there is for Sophia Charlotte Stuart born 26 Sep 1843, District of Spring Bay. According to Andrew Thomas Stuart's obituary they were in Victoria for a short time before Tasmania. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-page8364871 I have also checked the Victorian Pioneer Index but no birth registration on there for George Joseph Stuart either. Hi Sally, I note in the very early births of James Marshall and Eliza Ann Carlings children John is referred to as a Brick-maker - Caroline Lillias - https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD33-1-32p367j2k Thomas John - https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD33-1-33p523j2k There was a convict that arrived on the 'Eden (2)" who seems to fit the bill - https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-22$init=CON33-1-22p154 Note that Brickmaker in his qualification or trade appears to have been added later so it may have been a skill he developed while under sentence in VDL. He was convicted again locally in 1849 - https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON37-1-5$init=CON37-1-5 go to image 125 Might be the fellow your seeking... > >
