    1. [AUS-Tas] Correcting 'Family Links'
    2. Malcolm Ward
    3. Hi Listers I haven't taken any notice of the 'Tasmanian Family Links' data base on Tas Archive's web site for many years, but some-one has just pointed out to me that they have managed to mangle a set of my own g-grandparents (a g-grandmother is hitched to the wrong guy). On the web site it still says that the database is 'closed' and no corrections being made. Has anyone had any success in getting some of the errors corrected? If so, by what route? In my case, I have a newly published book that puts the issue beyond doubt, if that helps! Regards Malcolm Ward

I only had Bridget’s approximate birth year of 1826 and marriage to Michael Burke. Any info on their children would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Robin Gray nee Wicks Warrnambool

    3. Hi Laurette Michael Burke appears in my family tree. He was the youngest son of Michael Burke and Bridget Kehoe both from Ireland and married 12 Nov 1855 at St Josephs, Hobart. His birth was registered on 20 Sep 1865 as Michael Bourke, 121/1865. His wife died in Launceston at her daughter's home in 1952. I don't have a death record for him. Regards Andrew Cocker -----Original Message----- From: aus-tasmania-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-tasmania-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of L Gerholt Sent: Tuesday, 27 May 2014 11:02 AM To: aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-Tas] Michael Francis Burke Hello List I'm trying to help my neighbour with her Tree but have arrived at a dead end. I found a Tree on Ancestry which may be the link but I'm not certain. I wonder if I could have a lookup for Michael Francis Burke born at Brighton, Tasmania in 1865. The names of the parents would be ideal. This tree has him born 20 Sep 1865 and his death in Sydney as 1913, which I can't find. If someone has the CD's for Victoria could I also have a lookup for Mary May Burrows born 1872 at Kilmore, Vic. Her death is shown as 1952 in Sydney but there are a couple of entries for that year. I haven't found a marriage for them at this stage. Any help gratefully received. 1. [AUS-Tas] AUSTRALIAN SETTLERS and CONVICTS DNA PROJECTS
    2. Peter STRAUSS
    3. Family Tree DNA have given the go ahead for two new exciting Australian DNA projects and I am assisting the primary organiser Gail Riddell on the Australian Settlers project. Below are details of how you may initiate participation and I hope that as many of you as possible take up this opportunity to link up with others who may be descended from your immigrant forebears. I am writing to advise (with much pleasure) that FTDNA have given their approval to Gail Riddell to pioneer two new Australian Projects, and I am assisting her on the Settlers project. They are both categorised as Dual Y DNA and mtDNA Geographical project. Consequently, I am broadcasting this far and wide as I am aware we have many Australian testers within our ranks. (Even if you have ONLY tested atDNA (Family Finder) to date, it matters not. Just join. The "Australian Convicts" project is primarily aimed at those poor sods (male and female) who faced the tribulations of that unknown sea journey in the late 18th century. It will also welcome those who were later transferred to Norfolk Island. The "Australian Settlers" project is aimed at anyone who entered the land as a settler or traversed the rigours of the Convict status and became bone fide settlers. If you are interested in joining, the Convicts project is at <http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianConvicts/> http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianConvicts/ The Settlers Project is at <http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianSettlers/> http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianSettlers/ If you join, you will need to supply me with either the Fleet and / or the ship on which your ancestor(s) arrived (for the former), and the port(s) of arrival of your most distant Australian immigrants (both direct male lineage and direct female lineage). If you have only tested atDNA (FF), then that information is unnecessary. Gail is also co-ordinating a New Zealand Settlers project, and I know that we have many Kiwis on our Australian lists and details are on the FTDNA site. Peter Melbourne
