    3. Hi Tas , My earlier email to your Coleman query had links to some of the births of the known children of James and Charlotte Smith. Charlotte Smith died at Glen Fern on the 13 Sept 1906 aged 64 and is buried at Cornelian Bay - http://server2.admin.millingtons.com.au:81/ASP/search_details.asp?RecordID=14833 Her death notice is in the Mercury 15 Sept 1906. Possibility she may have been living with Ada and John Coleman? Appears James Smith was also still alive post 1906 because in the Cornelian Bay records online it says "Farmer's wife" not "widow"? She tells me that the last item on page 51 in the Benevolent Society's book should read MAWER Charles & Emily, not ER Charles & Emily. If you have bought this book please amend the error and future copies will be corrected. Cheers, Maree

    3. Hi Listers, I continue to research (amongst others) the Coleman family, and as a part I continue to seek detail related Adelaide Mary Blanche Smith.to date there is no known birth certificate for her, there is indication, though vague, that she may well have been adopted, but only from 1920 were adoptions recorded, before that period adoptions were in part made privately. Adelaide Mary Blanche Smith Married John Samuel Coleman in 1900. from that marriage there were children, one of whom was my mother, but we have been unable to find her birth certificate or baptism record/s. Can anyone help with detail and or advice please? It would be most appreciated. Kind regards Tas

    3. Hi An old farming property near Campbell Town has a birdbath in the garden which has on the base "George Rodham Home Sams 17/5/1886 - 26/11/1888". It is a little curious. I have found his death registration and the inquest report online which show he died in Deloraine after accidentally drinking carbolic acid but not who his parents were. Richard Horace Sams, born in Westbury in 1864 to William George Gardiner Sams and Sarah Rose Archer, married the great niece of Hugh Murray, the original land grantee where the birdbath was found but I can't see a connection. Would be grateful for any suggestions, as the owners would like to know the history. Regards Andrew

    3. Hi Andrew, A search of Trove turned up a report on the inquest in the Launceston Examiner, 28 November 1888, p. 2. This report gives the name of young George's father as William Thomas SAMS. A further quick & dirty check of the Colonial Family Links database gives William Thomas SAMS as a son of William George Gardiner SAMS and Sarah Rose formerly ARCHER. Richard Horace SAMS was therefore an uncle to young George. 3. Hi I noticed this CD on the list of resources available at the National Library of Australia but you have to visit the library and use thier CD and that is not practical for me as it is in Canberra several hours drive. So I was hoping someone on this list might have access to a copy. I am aware it is for NSW but am not a member of that list and thought some others on this list may have interests in NSW and thus have a copy. If you can help me I would really appreciate it as it mentions Military personal and I have recently found out that before comign to Tasmania as part of the 40th Regiment my ancestors had a brief stop off in Sydney where one child was born in 1826 and it is likely that they maybe on this CD as they were in the military which it says there is alot of info about on the CD Any help appreciated. 3. Hi, Anyone researching the above couple please and can share notes. I am going pretty well but would love some meat on bones. Wanting a little a bit more on Catherine McCaffreys family. I havent found a birth for her as yet. She was only 19 and John Webber 45 when they were married in the dwelling house of Kennedy murray Esq, Evandale 9th August 1857. I had a lovely surprise when I found Catherines will dated 1889, she died 1888. It was a full page. Her husband was a convict transported in 1845, so wasnt expecting it. She was only 50 when she died. I have a daughter Webber born 1864, unknown name and a unknown son, 1874, plus Catherine mentions her adopted son John in her will as well. So more on those would be good. Most of that chart is filled in. I have made charts out for each of the children for each generation. Topping my familytreemaker up gradually. Some photos if willing to share would be lovely. Our line is Richard and Elizabeth Webber, nee Tucker, married 1793, Stogursey/Stolford, Somerset, England John and Catherine Webber nee McCaffray/McCaffrey married 1857 and all children born at Morven/Evandale Francis Joseph and Annie Maria Webber nee Wells 1892, all children but one, born Evandale. Last daughter listed as born Everton. My childrens Grandmothers maternal line, Cox, Flood, Webber, Laing and related lines etc Thanks for any help Edie McArthur

    3. Hi Listers, I am coming to Hobart next week and hope to find out if the Robert MASON who owned 2 houses in Green Ponds, in the census 1842, is the convict on the Malabar 1821. He had 3 daughters with a Susan/Sussanna, Sarah, Emma Smith 1824 and Lucy 1826. He dissolved a partnership with John HOPKINS in the Hobart newspaper April 1841. John HOPKINS and his wife were the witnesses at Lucy's wedding Sept 1840, she was only 14yrs and pregnant, could that be the reason for break up of partnership? There is a death 29-8-1848 of Sarah MASON, would the cert tell me anything about her father? Two deaths of Robert MASON don't match with the convict age, and would the cert say he was a convict, or that he came to the colony on the Malabar? Would the Lands Office records of the homes in Green Ponds tell me anything that could help? Would there be records of partnerships that I could see? Can you suggest any other way I could find further information? Whew! Big ask I realise. Noela from Melbourne.
