Hi, I am looking for information on ancestors and descendants of RICHARD NEWMAN and MARY ANN JACOBS. They were married in Fingal in 1861 and had 14 children. They were mostly born iaround the Fingal and Portland areas. I have very little confirmed info on Richard. His name is given as JOHN on his marriage certificate but it is Richard on all of the other documents that I have seen. I believe he, or perhaps his predecessor, came from England. My grandmother claimed that the original Newman who came to Australia was sent here because of his liking for gambling and drink. Mary's parents were ISAAC JACOBS and MARY ANN GREEN. I do not have any information on their origins. There was a Mary Ann Green who came to Australia as a convict on NEW GROVE in 1835 but I am not sure if this was the right one. If anyone can confirm or refute this I would be very happy to hear from them. If anyone has info on Isaac and Mary's origins or descendants I would also love to hear from them. Regards, Sharon Long.
