    3. Hi, Listing again as new info has come to hand. A lot of these events took place in and around the New Norfolk area of Tas. Still searching for past info on James & Eliza Butler (nee Hornedge) who came to Tas in 1852. James was a Pensioner Guard on the Lord Dalhousie. I have discovered just recently that other than the two children I know about, Frederick b1852 and Charles b1858, it would appear that they had one (John), maybe two (Ann) and remote possibilty of three (Elizabeth) more children. John & Mary Anne Butler(Hill) marr1869, were seen as witnesses on Fredericks marriage to Margaret Hill in 1872. Going by the dates, John must have been born in England before the trip out. It would appear that Margaret Butler died shortly after her marriage to Frederick (drowned whilst boating on the Styx River) but still had time to have 4 children (Ann Ada, James Frederick, Margaret Jane & one un-named male). Frederick remarried in 1881 to Susan Clarke b1860. They had 10 children (Joseph, Frank, Frederick, Alfred, Minnie, Roy, Bert, Jessie, Edward & Julia). Shown as witnesses on Fredericks second marriage were Richard and Elizabeth Lillias (Butler). Elizabeth may not be a member of James' family but it is suspicious that she's a Butler, so I am hoping she is Fredericks sister?? I have also been informed that either the Clarkes or the Hills family mentioned here, are from convict stock. Don't have any more information on them. I have added the Heffernan family name because one of John and Mary Butlers 15 children, Mary Anne Butler b1873, married Thomas Heffernan b1866 and had three children; Edith, Thomas & Annie all born in New Norfolk. I am hoping that a Heffernan may see this and have some Butler info they can share. hopefully this mail is not too confusing and someone recognises something in here. kind regards phil b..... rainy qld..... researching: HEATHERS & BUTLERS
