Hello listers at present we have over 130 subscribers. Perhaps the list could be far busier than it is. I do not mind what listers discuss providing it is to do with Tasmanian Surnames. It can be musters, census material, bmd's, directories ... anything ... just so long as it is about the surnames of Tasmania. There is also a co admin to this list who will no doubt post messages on my behalf from time to time... Bright Blessings Sandie List Admin

Hi Ann, According to the Tasmanian Convict CDROM there is no female Pryke arriving in Tasmania until after your marriage date and her name was Mary Ann. There was a Charles Lee arriving in 1822 on the ship Caledonia 2 from Portsmouth. There were 37 John Turner arriving but no John William Turner. There were no Charlotte Shipman arriving at all as convicts. Hello listers I'm trying to sort out two WILLIAM SELBYS who may be the father of CLAUDE CLIFTON HOOPER., born in Pt Sorell in June 1885. 1.WILLIAM SELBY (b. 1843) the son of JOHN SELBY and ISABELLA BEVERIDGE, who married SARAH DADSON. 2. WILIAM SELBY (b. 1841) his cousin, the son of WILLIAM SELBY and CATHERINE ROBB, of whom I have no information at all (William the younger, that is). Does anyone have any information which may help? The birth record does not name a father. Claude married in New Zealand and called himself Selby. There were also more than one ISABELLA HOOPER (oh dear); it would be good to know which line I should follow back. Was she the daughter of EDWIN HOOPER and ELIZAMORGAN, or of WILLIAM HOOPER Aand JULIA MAHAR? Is the middle name CLIFTON any sort of clue? All suggestions gratefully received! Mary in New Zealand
