    1. [AUS-TAS-SURNAMES] Avoidance
    2. Hello Listers Whilst I do not advocate the sending of virus info to the list all of you would have been aware that I have done so over the past ten days. This has been specific to the fact that so many of the virus messages I have received have come from infected subscribers to my lists. I would hope that these people have cleaned their systems by now. It is probably worthwhile trying this little trick that will alert you to a virus on your computer if it has slipped through your scanner. 1: Add to you address book in the contact line the numbers 000000 2: Do not fill out any other part of the address 3: Save this address This address will then appear as the first entry in your address book. When a virus wants to send messages this 000000 address will be one of them ... but because there is no address it will pop and tell you "cannot send form incomplete" (or some such) because there is no email address in the 000000. Bear in mind this is not avoidance of virus, just an alert to let you know you have one. Most viruses attack O.Express and Explorer. The keystroke virus logs your keystrokes and lifts the numbers punched in for your credit card numbers and sends them back to the creator of the virus .... for those of you who have/do pay for your Internet connection by credit card ... you are the most vulnerable. It is IMPERATIVE that you scan your system DAILY and that you UPDATE your system regularly. I do know that MANY subscribers DO NOT have a virus scanner at all, you can get free downloads of the net that can be updated regularly. I use one of these it can be located at www.grisoft.com. Good luck... Bright Blessings Sandie List Administrator

    2. Hello Everyone I am searching for information on members of my first family, John Dobson and his daughter Mary Ann who was born about 1811/14 in Tasmania. I known that Mary Ann moved to Victoria about 1837, married Charles Ledgerwood in 1847 and died near Melbourne in 1864. I know nothing about John and Mary Ann's early life in Tasmania, the place where she was born or where her parents came from or how they came to be in Tasmania (Free Settlers, Convicts, a Sailor or Military?). If you have information to share with me I would be pleased to hear from you, or perhaps someone could lookup a BMD cd for Tasmania and let me know the details. Thankyou Jeff Arnold
