May I point out that even though Rootsweb may be a 'commercial' concern in one way or another, the information is always provided free through the archives searches. Additionally, I live in Western Australia and when it comes to services and products of any kind we are more disadvantaged that anyone... and for those who don't know, Perth is the remotest capital city in the world. This means we pay more postage etc than others. I have some 150 sets of grandparents in the trees of my four grandparents, some lines are back to 1500's and all my information has been compiled through extending my network of researchers of similar interests. Aside from that ... there are numerous professional genealogist who subscribe to this list who never tell anyone they are, nor do they canvas clients on list. I also point out that from the 50+ lists that I maintain around the globe, the only two I have encounter this discussion are the two Tasmanian ones!!! I also might point out that both these lists have people on the reject list for flaming me. Now, the Rootsweb policy IS the policy and on my lists we stick to it. NO prices of services are discussed nor do genealogists professional or otherwise canvas ONLIST clients in any way, shape or form, nor are prices for products/services given. Quite simple. And like ALL things, if you abide by the guidelines things progress extremely well and everyone is happy. THE TOPIC IS NO LONGER OPEN FOR DISCUSSION. Good luck with your research everyone.
