Firstly having been a member of other Lists I can understand our Administrators apprehension. We all know that Sue is really offering a free service to Listers and only seeking compensation for incidentals she incurs such as photostating. No one knows who is on the other end of a request and Sue is placing a lot of trust in those who who do so by not requesting money up front. Certainly not a commercial proposition. She is certainly not touting for business and I would make the same request for compensation for these incidental costs if it was me. If the present arrangements are not kosher perhaps as an alternative Sue, should simply mention that she is visiting the Archives and that she is prepared to do lookups which should be made to her off line. Any requests to Sue can be submitted and arranged directly off list to her. What occurs after that is between the 'requester' and the 'requestee' so to speak. Our administrator has a job to do and this method would avoid any future embarrassment and arguments as to what constitutes a "fee". Regards Alan Crawford Canberra - Australia
