Hi I'm new to the list and through a fortunate circumstance I connected with another family member in Tasmania. I also found through the online Tas. archives a match with the information I was given. I have one confusion I have John CHEW arriving on 'Ratcliffe' in 1848 at Hobart. He married Ellen QUILL (who arrived on 'Blackfriar' in 1851 at VDL. The marriage took place in 1853 On the archives there is also a John CHEW m Ellen WOODS about 1865. But Ellen CHEW nee QUILL died in 1903 in Hobart. Is there anyone who can confirm the dates and marriages I have gleaned, or suggest where I can search further.? Thank you Maria Central Coast NSW

Hmm......are Ellen Woods & Ellen Quill the same person? I would suggest a that it could be possible but you would need to check her convict records for evidence. There is no marriage for John Chew & Ellen Woods on the Tasmanian Pioneer Index. The children born to John Chew & Ellen Quill are from 1853 - 1863.
