    3. Good morning listers, We have hit one of those famous brick walls with this lady. I have found the following entry for her http://pioneers.tased.edu.au/taslink3.asp?ID=134881, but this states that details are taken from private research not available to the Archives Office of Tasmania. Are any of you out there? We have the birth certificate of a daughter (born in Victoria), and this states that Harriet was born in Oatlands Tas, and was 29 in August 1882. She married George Thompson in Jerusalem, Tasmania (now called Colebrook). However, we are struggling to find any record so far of her birth. We know that the Thompson family moved quite a bit through the birth of their children. We think that they were in Tas around 1886 when Harriet's mother died. And it is this lady that we are most interested in. We think Harriet died in NSW in 1938, but the NSW BDM indexes only give her father's name as Daniel Field. No Mother's name given. (maybe the death certificate will give more information). Family stories have led us to believe that the lady in question is Margaret Burnett (or Barnett), an Irish convict. Unfortunately, no record has been found of a convict of this name. even stranger, the marriage between Daniel Field and a Catherine Farrell (another Irish convict)has been found, matching a few other facts that we have - minus the birth of Harriet. We have got a few more details, that may or may not help, and others have been helping us to search - with no concrete leads so far, so please tell us if you have any suggestions for us Savi and David

    3. Have just read through your email and although I can't help with the main topic, I do have a lot of information about 'Catherine FARRELL' Of course it may not be the same one. The Catherine FARRELL in my family was not actually a convict, but came out as a free settler to join her father and 2 sisters who were convicts. She would have been born in 1831 in Kerry, so if it matches up please ask for more. Best wishes Valerie in NZ Valerie Martin NZSG #15633 Researching FARRELL O'NEILL MERRITT ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Webb & Savi Fernando" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 19, 2002 12:02 PM Subject: [TAS-CONVICTS] Harriet FIELD b 1853 Oatlands, Tasmania > Good morning listers, > > We have hit one of those famous brick walls with this lady.
