Sandie, In your first message, you indicated that you objected to the mention of the "research fees" charged by the Archives Office of Tasmania, because "it is considered to be commercial advertising". Although you may have implied that Rootsweb policy was behind it, you did not indicate the basis on which that assertion was made. You have now indicated that "it is quite okay to mention that there is a fee applicable for research just don't add the price". As you are evidently aware, the fee charged by the AOT is most emphatically *not* for a commercial service, but is simply a charge levied by the government authority which has custody of the records most relevant to the subject of this list. I would firmly suggest to you that the original poster was doing no more than providing information of interest and relevance to members of this list in quantifying the said fee. As a sometime listowner, I am well aware that the position carries with it responsibilities, as well as rights. Those rights include the right to request that topics be closed for discussion. Responsibilities, however, require that list members understand and accept the reasons for such requests. I would suggest to you that your reasoning in this instance is neither clearly understood nor clearly explained.
