Just browsing through my Bookclub brochure and found the following: The blurb reads..... "In 1828 there was a man named William Buelow Gould, a white convict who fell in love with a black woman and discovered too late that to love is not safe. Silly Billy, invader of Australia (per Asia 3 to VDL), liar, murderer and forger, blahblah" Anyway, the book about him is called "Gould's Book of Fish" - a novel in 12 fish by Richard Flanagan.
