Hi Valerie I am not sure if ours are related, but it struck me as I have Samuel Nelson Watson b. Co Tyrone 1837(mother Eliza or Elizabeth Cochran, father John Watson) marrying Mary Ann Hughes (b. Green Ponds (Kempton) Tasmania 10/10.1838.They married at Bakery Hill Ballarat, 1856. They named their first child William, and the name was repeated throughout the following generations. I have been wondering whether my Samuel came to Australia alone, I haven't found him in convict lists so far. I believe there is a book called From Ben Nevin ??? to Little Rock which tells the story of this family. Mary Ann is buried at Little Rock (Rothwell, Vic) I think I found it listed on the Geelong Council website with a link to the cemetary. Mary Ann's mother is a bit of a mystery to me at the moment but she is possibly Banks or Farrell. Did Ellen have a sister named Mary Ann, by any chance ?? The mother's name may have been Martha. It's a long shot, but worth a try.
