Welcome: he's a bit late for the convict era in Tasmania. There is a CD called "Tasmanian Convict Records" which lists all Tas convicts, with some basic details. It is the most convenient starting point. You'll find it in most Genealogicial libraries. It is the most convenient starting point. My partners GGrandfather Eugene CUNNINGHAM went to Tasmania in approximately 1858 I believe from Ireland. I have his death certificate. It states that he was born in Letter County Kerry Ireland. He married in NSW in 1863 and then in 1882. According to his death certificate he was in Tasmania for 3 years and then he moved to NSW and had been in NSW for 44 years at the time of his death. I don't know if he was a convict or not, and i have no idea where to start my search, could someone give me an idea on where to look. I live in Sydney, but does anyone know if the Mitchell Library in Sydney would have copies of whatever records i might find Eugene in? TIA Barb
Thanks Peter.
