Hi again listers, Being new to this list I am unsure: is it appropriate to post queries about convicts who came via Port Jackson and Norfolk Island to VDL. My gggggrandparents, William PRESNELL and Ann FOWLER did just that, and arrived in VDL in 1808 on the City of Edinburgh. I would love to hear from anyone who has connections to, or information about, William and Ann and their descendants, and William's 'family' who later came to VDL. Kind regards, Sharon.
Hi Sharon, tis me again, how's the teaching going?. at present I am researching my son in law's Wright family tree Samuel Wright when he married in Sydney, in 1897 said he was born there c 1860 and his parents were John Wright and Rose Brasnell. Sounds very similar to your Presnell. They were both dead when he married. I can find no birth for Samuel to John and Rose. Regards Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Norman W. Hi Sharon, Just a bit of trivia regarding your William Presnell. The 1819 Muster of Convict Men in Hobart has 2 men assigned to Presnill. Robert Caldwell who arrived on the Lady Castlereagh, tried in London in 1817 with a sentence of Life, he is listed "off stores". Joseph Brown arrived on the Lord Melville, tried in Alnwick in 1817 with a sentence of 7 yrs, he is also listed as "off stores". Perhaps a bit of useless information, still in the larger scheme of things it's interesting to put names, places and relationships together, making the tapestry of life.
