Re. bookings please email me if this is more convenient than phoning I am very pleased to be able to announce the dates and times when the Lady Nelson will commemorate the arrival of the original Lady Nelson in the River Derwent in 1803. I hope many of you will be able to join her in September 2003. Irene Lady Nelson Bicentenary 1803-2003 The original H.M.S. Lady Nelson was built in Deptford 1798 and arrived NSW in 1800. She arrived in the River Derwent as part of the first settlement under Lt. Bowen in September 1803. The Lady Nelson also assisted Lt. Col. Collins when he moved from Port Phillip to the River Derwent in 1804, and Lt. Col. Paterson to the Tamar River later that same year. When the Norfolk Islanders were evacuated to VDL between 1807-13, the Lady Nelson again making another three voyages. The Lady Nelson will sail on River Derwent on Wednesdays 3, 10, 17, 24 September and Saturday and Sundays 6&7; 13&14; and 20&21 September 2003. There will be 3 hour sails in the morning 9.30 -12.30 and 2 hour sail in the afternoon 1.30 - 3-30. She will leave from the Elizabeth Street Wharf A local historian will be on board to give a talk on the early history of VDL. The fares will be $15 .00 for the three hour sail and $10 for the afternoon sail. Passengers are asked to bring their own food and drink. A maximum of 30 passengers per sail and we welcome individuals groups and parties as well as charters for half or full day sails. To book please phone me on 03 62 722 124.
