This year will see the beginning of our Bicentenary here in Tasmania and it is hoped that by September there will be many things that the public will be able to take part in to commemorate our 200 years. In September 1803 the Albion and the Lady Nelson brought Lt. Bowen and the first settlers and convicts to Risdon Cove on the River Derwent. Then in February 1804 the Ocean and the Lady Nelson brought LT. Collins and his settlers and convicts up the river to Sullivans Cove. The Lady Nelson has already set aside most of September 2003 to conduct historical sailing on the River Derwent. There will be two and three hour sailing on the Wednesdays of each week and on the weekends. Local historians will be on board to talk to passengers about the early history of Van Diemen's Land. If you are planning on coming to Tasmania this year why not come in September this year or February next year.
