Folks, having been sitting on the sidelines for some time now and absorbing the interesting and informative messages, the next step is to become involved and this primarily due to my having booked a 3 week driving tour, which includes doing 2 weeks touring Tassie, seeking my elusive Irish Convicts. The names in question are Mahady (+ vars), which are now listed in my Signature below, and the Quigleys, who were intermarried with my Mahadys. A James Mahady had been transported to VDL in 1842, together with a Hugh Quigley, for the same offence in Ireland, of which I have all Trial Records. The sister of James,Ann, was married to Hugh and came to VDL in 1850 and both families eventually settled in Westbury. A Matthew Mahide came to VDL during 1842 and was later tried and convicted of an armed robbery and hanged in 1848. Have numerous other details on the above but this will suffice. Should any of the Listers have any connection, or knowledge of any of these named Families would you please contact me prior to the 7th. February, when my Trip to Tassie commences. I will be touring all over Tassie, as required, but will initially be stopping at the Olde Tudor Motor Inn, Launceston from the10th February until 12th. February, (incl) for any personal contacts. Any form of advice regarding any of the above is appreciated.
