Hi Valerie, Victoria Valley and Seven Mile Creek (also known as Marlborough) were not stations visited by Charles La Trobe in 1847. Seven Mile Creek: This is close to the centre of Tasmania and is on the road from Hamilton to the west coast of Tasmania. It was supposedly open from 1841-1844? then 1849-1850 Victoria Valley: This is between the road to the west coast and the main road through the middle of Tasmania (somewhere near Bothwell, I think). It was open between 1842-1844. This is from the book by Ian Brand called 'The Convict Probation System: Van Diemen's Land 1839-1854' ISBN 0 908528 20 5 For anyone else who is interested in finding out about the probation and hiring stations that are mentioned in La Trobes report in 1847 there are many references you could look up if you are in Sydney Mitchell Library including the Tasmanian Papers 57-127. If in Tasmania at the archives office they are found at MM62 films 1-41 and are copies of the Comptroller General's correspondence, the originals of which are those in Mitchell Library Sydney. So far no luck. Especially frustrating since I have just come back from Tasmania. If anyone knows where I can buy it I would be very happy!!. Could someone help me with information about convict probation stations at Seven Mile Creek and Victoria Valley. Are they covered in this book. Best wishes Valerie in Auckland
