Valerie, Victoria Valley is in the Central Highlands, just west of Tarraleah. Currently the main highway goes via Tarraleah, but there is a 'short-cut' via an old route through Victoria Valley. There is a Seven Mile Creek just north of the point where this short-cut joins the Lyell Highway again. Could be the two references are to the same probation station in the area. I presume the station was for logging purposes, as the road past this point to the west coast wasn't constructed until the 1930s. There are two other Seven Mile Creeks in Tasmania, one on the Waratah Highway, the other in the South West National Park, neither of which were likely sites for convict Probation Stations.
