    3. Dear Lists, Three weeks ago I discovered this forum and was so impressed that after placing a number of items on it offered to become the Tasmanian Moderator. This medium is very user friendly and offers many ways of getting your story out or searching for that elusive family member. I think in the future we will see more of this type of contact on our computers. The High Country of Victoria seems a long way from Tasmania but I have been surprised how many Tasmanian names are on this site. I think we forget how much our ancestors travelled in those early times. Thomas, the son of the convict James Jordan (born Norfolk Island) went to Beechworth where some of his family lived for many years. Thomas died there in 1888. Thats a lot of travelling Norfolk Island, to Longford Tasmania and then Beechworth Victoria. Moderators are needed for the other states and this could be a great way of getting in touch and finding out more about your family and state. I have added the Lady Juliana convict women's story to the Tasmanian section, it will be interesting to see what response I receive. The forum site can be found on http://www.highcountryheritage.org/phpBB2 Hope to see you there.
