Dear List, I am very new to the list - I joined this morning. I am looking for information on my Great Grandfather JAMES MC GIVERON (Magiverin/McGivern plus other varients I guess) He was born in Drumnabreeze, Magheralin Parish, County Down. He was baptised 7/8/1823 there. He was in Glenluce, Scotland and was caught for a crime and was sentenced to 14 years at Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a convict and was sent to Tasmania, Australia on the "Mayda" from London on 29/8/1845. He arrived on Norfolk Island 8/1/1846 and then arrived at Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 19/5/1847on the "Pestongee". After he was granted Ticket of Leave he married in Launceston, Tasmania and from there the family grew and spread out.
