I thought I would join the mailing list first as I know you can get lots of tips, shortcuts and the direction in which to head. I am Australian but the rest of the family, all in QLD, are leaving it up to me. I really do need to contact Tasmanian Archives though I can see from Meryl's later reply that Henry Smart did not marry in Tasmania.     3. Hi Trudy Thank you - yes I think it could be the man. He was 25 in 1831 on Gaol Register at his trial and according to IGI birth. ( Iam obtaining printout of birth from Gloucester Record Office) (Irene Wyatt did have 23 in her book but Henry was 25 on the official records I have, his wife Sarah tried at the same time and acquitted was 23 . (crime stealing 3 sheep) She was on the line below on Gaol Register so easy for a copying error at some stage. I will order this certificate and keep my fingers crossed.
