    2. Sue Wyatt
    3. Hi June, According to the Convict CDROM there were 34 males by name of Townsend who arrived in VDL as convicts. None had the name Job. Plenty of James and John though. Next time I am in the archives (probably Thursday evening to do convict lookups) I will check in the permission to marry cards under the wife's name in case he was one of the above Townsends. 3. one of my convicts Deborah SKELDING (nee SMITH) born: c.1813 at Bristol offence: Leamington, Warks - stealing a pair of boots, had served 6 months for a similar previous offence. sentance: 7 years ship: Asia 1847 died: 1890 Victoria, Australia. Deborah had been married to Thomas SKELDING who (may have) died before she was convicted. They had three children who were on the Asia with Deborah. There is no trace in Tasmania of two children but the youngest Esther (3) spent several years in an orphanage and was released to Deborah when she gained her ticket of leave. Deborah was given permission to marry another convict Joseph GARRAWAY in 1849. Her daughter Esther married William, son of another convict Nathaniel CARR in 1865 at Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia. One son was born before they moved to Dunedin, New Zealand for the rest of their lives. cheers Graham Dixon (Auckland, New Zealand)

His wife Jane (Cooke) and younger children Thomas, Daniel and Sarah were in Birmingham at 1851 census. 1. [TAS-CONVICTS] Roll Call part 2
    2. Hello listers I overlooked, very remiss of me ... that there are subscribers to the list who may not have convicts but have great wealths of knowledge who may like to suggest to those that do where they might look to uncover certain information. This is remembering that some people are new to convict research if not genealogy as a whole. It also might be beneficial to state what resources you may have if you are will to look up information for people ... remembering copyright issues as well. I have Charles Bateson's Convict Ships and several other books that list the various microforms/resources in each States. Bright Blessings Sandie List Administrator
