Dear Listers I am new to this list & I have so far sent two messages. Both times I have received back a strange message mentioning Scanmail & sensitive content in my messages. Can anyone shed light on this, please?? There has been nothing remotely sensitive in the messages I have sent, I hasten to add!!!! Thanks. Best regards, Ruth

Hi, If anyone is researching the John MARTIN who came out as a convict on the COMPETITOR to Hobart in 1823, I would be delighted to hear from you. Best Wishes, ALAN
Sue, your message just happened to arrive after I had been reading up on my Tassie Records, regarding my Mahady and Quigley Families, and the name Colgrave came to mind as this was one name which I do have but which may not be directly connected to my own Mahadys. Generally, due to the wide variations in the spellings of my name, I copy down each and every name which may have some probability of connection, for future reference, as has happened in this instance. Ellen Mahaine - aged 33 - Married Joshua Colgrave - Age 21 - at Launceston on 7th. April 1881 - Register No. 37 1881 362 Decided to send just in case it may be of assistance in your search, but I really do not think that Ellen is one of my elusive Mahadys. Hi, I just had a thought about this. I noticed a while back, that when I sent an email out in bulk to friends, that quite often, the hotmail ones would bounce back with a message such as SMTP error from remote mailer after end of data: host mc2.law5.hotmail.com [216.32.243.135]: 554 Transaction failed I seemed to fix it by resending to the hotmail accounts separately, but then that started failing after a while as well. I have been wondering if it is a problem with some ISP's sending mails to hotmail. Sorry, I can't give more idea than this. regards Savi ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2002 12:34 AM Subject: [TAS-CONVICTS] List Message > Listers > For those of you with hotmail addresses that have still managed to stay on > the list over the last few days, and for those subbed again for the umpteenth > time!!! > > I contacted Rootsweb regarding the bouncing Hotmail addresses and below is > the response I have received. Hello listers a little bit about the hotmail saga ... and then some about the different RootsWeb mail modes. It looks as though hotmail cannot cope with addresses that are subscribed to the L mode of the mailing list. Those on the Digest so far appear to have no problems (fingers crossed). So would suggest that those who are in the L mode switch over to the D mode. The added advantage of subscribing to the D mode is that it is volumised and numbered. For whatever reason ;) if the numbers don't run in sequence then you know you have missed one and can get it direct from the archives. It also makes your mailbox list a LOT SMALLER!!! None of the above can be done via the L mode that I know of. Have fun everyone ... including the hotmail subscribers! Bright Blessings Sandie My four grandparents family names that I am researching.
