In 1884 Trooper SPICER was accidently shot at Farina by another Trooper They were using their new 7 inch Smith and Wesson revolvers/carbines - so called "carbines" because they could be used with a shoulder stock and used like a rifle. A horse reared up and the revolver discharged hitting SPICER in the neck.
