Hello everyone I am new to this list..I am hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction please. My late mother told me that she was named after a Rose Merrifield Fursman who was her Aunt, she seemed to think that she had emigrated at some point with her husband..but did not know which country. Rose Merrifield Fursman (abt 1887) married a Frederick William Cary (abt 1883) in 1909 in Hampshire England. I have found a Frederick Cary & Rose Cary arriving in Brisbane, Australia on the passenger list on 2/3 January 1910 ...the ship was The Marathon I have no idea if this is the right couple but their ages fit perfectly. Not sure where to go from here! Any help would be greatly appreciated Kind Regards Margaret
Hi Margaret, I'm having a look for you. I have found a NSW passenger list stating that William's occupation was a farmer. He was accompanied by his wife Rose and someone else named William Cary (occupation Farmer) which could have been a brother perhaps? When I can get on to the relevant website I'll see what other info I can find. Don't know if you've seen this. It's a photo of the ship coming into harbour. It apparently went from Plymouth to Melbourne, to Sydney and then Queensland. http://www.flickr.com/photos/anmm_thecommons/8279363975/ regards Gale (Melbourne) -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Margaret Young Sent: Friday, 16 August 2013 2:01 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] Help Please!!
