My John Holden and his wife and 3yo child travelled to Victoria in 1851, then went back to Kapunda a couple of years later (still had family there), had another child there, then went all the way back to Vitoria with 3 small children. He then bought good land in the Campbell's Creek area. It has been suggested to me that he took his gold back to SA, where they paid a premium, then went home. Does anyone have an idea of numbers who travelled overland into SA? Also did many enter SA through ports other than Port Adelaide? I know quite a number landed at Robe to travel overland to Victoria to avoid an entry tax in Victoria. Many thanks Ian in Perth ----- Original Message ----- From: "abhcon" To:"Judy Smart" , Cc: Sent:Sun, 18 Aug 2013 09:49:14 +0930 Subject:Re: [AUS-SAGEN] Boer War Memorial at St Peters College Hi Judy Why don't you contact the College archivist?
